But by doing that I've missed out on loads of great candles! I know that now that I've tried out Karen Davey's candles. How idyllic does this sound? Karen makes her candles in her kitchen at home in Cornwall from soy wax.
So what is soy wax? It's made from the oil of soybeans, so it's a completely renewable and sustainable resource. So good for the environment as well as burning well and smelling good!
Karen sent me the Mediterranean Garden candle to try and my first impression was that it had a beautiful fruity smell which is exactly the kind I'd go for! She describes it as "oranges, green apple and zesty bergamot with ginger and musks" and it's such a nice sweet fragrance.
I didn't hesitate to light it and left it burning for the maximum 4 hours as stated. It had burned evenly and the tin was warm but not too hot to touch.
If you'd like to try Karen's candles for yourself you can buy them in her online shop. There are some delicious sounding combos on there like Lemongrass and Ginger, Peppermint and Eucalyptus, and I'd definitely like to try Pink Sparkles!
