♫ Tuesday Tuneage ♫

The first time I moved away from my family home was in 2000. I was moving to Dundee and on the way down with all my belongings I discovered David Gray's White Ladder album, which was to become the soundtrack to my first few years there. It's also one of the only albums that I have owned where I love every single song (the 10 track version).

This week I'm moving out again so it seems fitting to share this album with you. Listening back to it now all the memories come flooding back and it still totally moves me.

Babylon was the first song I heard and I instantly loved it. I was in the car with my sister on moving day as my parents followed on.  It was so exciting, this whole new adventure and I'd never been surer of anything else in my life.

Please Forgive Me reminds me of someone special. Someone that I seriously fell, head-over-heels, truly, madly, deeply for.

And Say Hello Wave Goodbye reminds me of how I felt when it all went horribly wrong.

My Oh My reminds me of how hard-hearted I became for a long time.

But This Year's Love reminds me of hopeful romantic encounters after that.

It's not all doom and gloom (although it maybe sounds it)! This album is full of beautifully written, heartfelt songs and also reminds me that I had the most amazing time in Dundee.

I can't wait to see what this next move brings!

  1. Oh my how I loved White Ladder! Coincidentally, I bought it (back when people actually bought CDs) just after moving to Scotland so (along with Elton John's greatest hits album) it's kind of the soundtrack to a bit of my life back then. Thanks for the reminder, must go dig it out...
